Jerry Jacuzio started playing guitar at 9 and performed in many different genres of music on a variety instruments including pedal steel guitar, banjo, mandolin, lute and dobro. Irish traditional music and culture was always present in the melting-pot Irish-Italian neighborhood he was raised in. At age 40, he started studying Irish fiddle in the Clare County regional style. This encompassed the study of the playing of the old Masters from Clare as well as regional styles from other counties by more than just fiddle players. This study progressed to studying the styles of the next generation of Irish players that brought their music into pubs in the 60s: Tommy Peoples, Noel Hill, Paddy Glackin, Seamus Connelly, Paddy Keenan, Kevin Burke, Liam O'Flynn, James Kelly and others of the new revival of The Tradition.
Over the years, he had Irish traditional study and workshops with Seamus Connelly, James Kelly, Kevin Burke, Mhaire O'Keefe, Brian Conway, Paddy Glackin, Andy McGann plus local teachers: Jason Cade, Cathy and Patrick Sky and Clay Buckner of The Red Clay Ramblers. Sean nOs singing, study of the Irish Language, literature, history and Traveler culture has also played a big part in his feel of The Tradition. His personal goal has been to promote the study and exposure of the Uilleann piping in the area.
Jerry Jacuzio presently studies the Uilleann pipes on drones made by Bruce Childress of Maine and a chanter made by Brian Howard of England. Present chanter reed was made using the reed making techniques taught to him by Patrick Sky and Alan Burton of England.
